About Therapist

Hello, my name is Hannah. My journey into perinatal mental health stems from my many years as a Registered Midwife in Alberta. Here I witnessed firsthand the complexities and nuances of the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges faced by new parents.

Specializing in supporting families through a range of perinatal experiences—fertility, conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. Additionally, I offer support to birth workers (nurses, doulas, midwives) experiencing burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue.

Treatment Approach

As a therapist, I believe in taking a holistic and client-centered approach to therapy. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions. I draw from various evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Trauma-Informed Therapy, to tailor my treatment to each client's unique needs.

I am committed to fostering resilience and personal growth, helping clients navigate their challenges with compassion and understanding. Together, we will work towards your healing and well-being, allowing you to thrive in all aspects of life.

  • A widely used therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, helping clients develop healthier thinking and coping strategies.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is centered on helping clients identify, understand, and process their emotions. This therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of emotional awareness and expression in fostering healing and improving interpersonal relationships. Clients learn to connect with their feelings, which can lead to greater self-acceptance and enhanced communication with others. EFT is particularly effective for individuals struggling with relationship issues, as it promotes empathy and emotional connection between partners.

  • Strengths-Based Therapy focuses on identifying and utilizing clients' inherent strengths to promote resilience and positive change. This approach encourages individuals to recognize their capabilities, resources, and past successes as tools for overcoming challenges. By emphasizing strengths rather than deficits, clients are empowered to take an active role in their healing process, leading to increased self-esteem and motivation.

  • Person-Centered Therapy provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can freely explore their thoughts and feelings. This approach is rooted in the belief that individuals possess the inherent capacity for self-discovery and growth. The therapist's role is to offer empathy, understanding, and unconditional positive regard, facilitating a space where clients can reflect on their experiences and work towards personal goals and self-acceptance.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy incorporates mindfulness practices to help clients enhance their emotional regulation and overall well-being. By teaching clients to focus on the present moment and develop a non-judgmental awareness of their thoughts and feelings, this approach aids in reducing stress and anxiety. Mindfulness techniques empower individuals to respond to life's challenges with greater clarity and calmness, fostering resilience in the face of adversity.

Outside The Therapy Session

Favorite Quote: "Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen."

— Brene Brown

Outside of my work as a therapist, I am kept busy with parenting my two incredible teenagers. You’ll find me enjoying walks with my dog, baking sourdough bread, crocheting cozy projects, and working through puzzles. I love spending time outdoors and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am more of a night owl than an early bird, but I never say no to coffee or brunch!
